BALANCE

Growing up, I was fascinated by how people could balance things on their heads without using their hands.

To my young mind, it was nothing short of a superpower, and no one could convince me otherwise.

My mom told me it was all about finding the right balance, but my attempts to master it almost ended up breaking one of her buckets.

Now, as an adult, I’m still fascinated by those who can sit on okadas (motorbikes) without holding onto anything.

It feels like they have a superpower too.

People often tell me to “balance on the okada well well” to avoid falling on the road.

But what exactly is this balance everyone talks about?

It seems like it’s about keeping things steady and not tipping over.

Whether it’s carrying stuff on your head, riding a bike, or dealing with life’s twists and turns, balance is like a secret force that keeps us from losing our footing.

Balance isn’t just about the physical stuff—it’s also about finding the right mix in relationships, work, and other aspects of our lives.

Yet, the question lingers—how can we lead a balanced life?

While a weighing scale insists on an even distribution between its left and right pan, in life, balance is trickier.

It entails identifying the appropriate amount of time and energy to allocate to different aspects of our lives—a perpetual process of learning.

It’s a process akin to a toddler’s wobbly attempts at walking, where we walk, fall, and gradually find our stride, without tripping as much.

Living a balanced life is about constant adjustments, like a never-ending recalibration.

It is about acknowledging that the balance we seek is dynamic, evolving with the changing rhythms of our existence.
